End of the Year Read Alouds for Elementary (With Activities!)
The end of the year is an exciting time with lots of fun activities and high-energy students. As the year is winding down, it is important to have a supply of read-alouds and activities ready to go for when you need them. Below I’m going to share my favorite end of the year stories with accompanying activities so that you can end the school year in a breeze!
- I Wish You More by Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Tom Lichtenheld

I Wish You More is a heartwarming story where the writer expresses wishes of happiness and love to the readers. This book is perfect for the end of the year as teachers wish their students happiness as they move onto the next grade. As an extension activity, students can also write wishes for themselves and for their peers.

2. Last Day Blues by Julie Danneberg

Last Day Blues by Julie Danneberg is a classic end of the year read-aloud. The story explores the array of emotions that students (and teachers!) face at the end of the school year. The students team up to brainstorm a way to show their appreciation for their teacher Mrs. Hartwell and help cheer up her last day blues. Turns out the teachers aren’t as sad about the last day as the students think!
